Inventory and Purchasing Manager

Smith Construction is seeking 1 person to fill the roll of our Inventory and Purchasing Manager. This person is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Sign tools and equipment in and out to employees as needed
  • Hold employees accountable and responsible for the tools that they have signed out
  • Keep barn and yard stocked with the minimum quantities listed on the shelves or walls
  • Keep the shop, break room and yard organized and clean
  • Process purchase orders, requisitions, and other purchasing documents for the purchase of parts and needed supplies
  • Purchasing for both yard/job needs, as well as purchasing for the mechanics shop
  • Source product and negotiate terms with vendors while maintaining, re-evaluating, and expanding primary sources of supply, and assisting in obtaining secondary supply sources to promote appropriate competition
  • Ability to drive and enforce accountability within the supply chain
  • Ability to develop and organize a system of processes to track tool and equipment usage
  • Ability to work on small engines and assist in the mechanics shop when needed/available

The ideal candidate is:

  • Organized
  • Punctual
  • Has or is willing to obtain a Class A CDL
  • Has basic computer skills and knowledge
